I'm incredibly blessed to call Vancouver Island home. Situated a few minutes from Sebastion beach, I live with my family in the foothills of Lantzville, the forest is our backyard(literally), both of these elements are my constant source of inspiration.
Hi, I'm Nicole Sullivan, the founder and formulator of SALT & SEAWEED APOTHECARY.
It all started with childhood vacations to the exquisite shores of South Africa's Hibiscus Coast. With a deep love and respect for the ocean that tugged at my heart relentlessly, I knew I was destined to live by the sea.
My Story
As a holistic Aesthetician, clinical Aromatherapist and a Naturopath, I was perpetually researching healthier skincare options that I could recommend with honesty and certainty to my clients, products that were safe and effective, and would complement their healing journey, untainted by toxic synthetic ingredients. The harsh reality I discovered, was that many brands contained ingredients that were inferior and questionable, many even unpronounceable, with an abundance of low-quality fillers along with synthetic colorants, fragrances, and scary preservatives. Reading labels shouldn't require a PhD. I felt compelled to be "the change I wanted to see in the world". I knew I had the knowledge, the expertise, and never settled for anything other than excellence in my ingredient choices. I've created toxin-free products for my loved ones for many years, and found myself sharing them daily with my clients, who were thankful for natural and effective solutions.
In early 2012, I launched my first skincare company as a Certified Advanced Soap & Cosmetic formulator, and in the summer of 2017, our family relocated to Vancouver Island, BC. At that time, I decided to change the direction of my company. My passion for the ocean and it’s incredible restorative healing powers became my new obsession and my focus.
